G. M. Hopkins / St. Ives. (United Kingdom) (Votava Collection) Aerated Water, Torpedo Stoneware Torpedo. Salt Glaze. Impressed. 10 oz. 205 mm 1830s
Excellent (8.2). There are two filled chips to the lower back - 18 x 15 and 20 x 10 mm. There is actually a raised bit of pottery next to the lower one so would probably be interesting to see if these marks are in fact just deeper kiln kisses. There is a kiln kiss to the lower front and a small one in the middle of the O of Hopkins. Some thin firing cracks and making marks. Some scuffs and wear around. Lip is a beauty. Wonderful glaze. Great example of a classic early stoneware torpedo. Estimate: $1000-1500
