Blue and white ceramic baby feeder with ornate flowers on vine scene. Household Baby feeder Blue and white china. 185 mm. 1860s
Excellent. Tiny glaze flake to the very tip of the lip. Scratch to the outer part here as well. The large breather hole opening has a few flakes through the glaze, two of which are about 3 x 2 mm, but just through the glaze, the other is partly through the glaze, and covers about 6 x 1 mm. There is a kiln kiss to one side, 13 x 6 mm, there is some dirt amongst this. Another kiln kiss on the opposite side right on the seam, 8 x 3 mm. Near the front base is a flake to the glaze, 1 x 1 mm with a smaller one right beside it. At the front base is a slightly larger 3 x 2 mm flake / wear through the glaze. These are all very minor and blend in well, they are very difficult to see. The rear where it sits has some usage wear, pretty much just some minor discoloured scuffs in small spots to the rear, again very difficult to see. Some light scratches to be found. A superb piece, this would complement the blue and white feeder sold in Auction 4 which had a different pattern. Grade: 8.45 Estimate: $750 - 1000
