G. H. Billson / Trade (Crossed Axes) Mark / G.H.B / Melbourne // M. G. B. Co. Base Mark: B. (Partial label to back that would have read G. H. Billson, Kola Beer, Brighton Road, East St Kilda). Aerated Water Cork Stoppered Applied top. Aqua. 26 oz. 302 mm. 1890s
Near Mint. Has been found under a house, due to partial label, the owner never cleaned the bottle, and so it has a fair bit of dirt and grime over it. Any dull spots that I have checked do scrape off leaving shiny glass underneath. There are some light scuffs and scratches typical of a bottle that has been in circulation. A couple of tiny flakes to the body, including one to the lettering, but barely noticeable. The diamond shape label is largely missing, what we can see or decipher is the GH Billson at the top, Kola Beer through the middle, Brighton Road, East St Kilda, parts of some of these words are missing, and a couple of other words are missing too. Is a unique bottle with the partial label, and in wonderful condition otherwise! Grade: 9 Estimate: $100 - 150
