Double sided enamel sign with flange for mounting advertising: Coleman, The Sunshine of The Night. Signs Enamel Multicoloured enamel double sided sign with mounting flange at one end. 495 x 338 mm. 1940s
Very Good. A very rare sign, this would have been mounted over a footpath out the front of a Coleman Sales and Service store, with the sign having different pictures on either side. As can be imagined, there would not have been many sales and service stores in the first place, and even less of the signs would have survived, so this is always going to be a rare piece. There are surface scratches to be found, in the corner some of these go through the first layer of enamel. Some staining as well in places. Some corrosion near the mounting flange and around the edges. On close inspection. it looks like a little bit of paint flaking on the edge of this corrosion? Is it possible this is in fact a heavy guage painted tin sign? The main body seems to be enamelled, maybe it is just the outer edge which is painted? A rare sign nonetheless, which is always going to be rare. Lovely piece. Grade: N/A Estimate: $600 - 750
