Spanish Silver Piece-of-Eight of Charles IV, 1788-1808. Dated 1797. 8 Reales. Exonumia Coin Large silver Spanish coin. 41 mm diameter. 1790s
Very Good. What an impressive piece of silver. These were the first currency used in Australia, in fact our Holey Dollar and dumps were manufactured from these coins I believe. Not being a coin grader, I am not even going to attempt a Fine grading, suffice to say it has some paperwork with it saying Fine. It is worn, most of the lettering is still visible. The outer rim design is still visible. A great piece of history, over 200 years old, this is most impressive. Grade: N/A Estimate: $200 - 300
