Cherry Tooth Paste / Dentists / (Laughing Parson) / 116 Collins Street E. / Simmons and Dwyer. (Victoria) Pot Lid Tooth Paste Domed lid, multi-coloured. 78 mm diameter. 1890s
Very Good. Has the full gold border. A few tiny nicks and spots of wear to the rim. There is a 10 mm hairline up from the bottom of the flange, this does not go to the rim. At the top of this hairline is a curved hairline coming from the bottom of the flange, curving up to the top of the 10 mm hairline and then back down to the bottom of the flange over a distance of about 40-45 mm. Only the 10 mm upward one can be seen on the inside. Some general discolouration. Some of the crazing is a little dark in places. Under the parsons nose and to the right of his mouth is an angled mark that can be felt. Looks like it has been scratched in making, causing a glaze miss? The edges seem to be raised making us think it was in making when the glaze had not set, causing the glaze to ridge and therefore it can be readily felt now, although not that obvious by sight. A super lid, this does not come with a base. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $1500 - 2000
