Lot 772: Clarke's Australian Eye Lotion Bottle

Very Good. Tiny bruise to upper right lip. Tiny flake to upper front lip. Oiled internally. A little haze throughout. Scattered scuffs and scratches. One or two little impact marks. Not a rare bottle, but the first we have seen in this colour. When selenium is added to glass, it is able to negate the color of other elements found in the glass and essentially decolorizes it. However, upon exposure to ultraviolet radiation, the selenium can react and turn a faint yellow colour, or in this case a deeper yellow. Much like purple bottles going darker in the sun, these selenium treated bottles go darker in the sun too, this is one of the darker examples of selenium glass we have seen.
