Mag: Carb: No makers marks. Medicine Chemist Large apothecary jar with painted label. 233 mm without lid. 1880s
Fair. The vendor informs us that this was sourced from Wilkinson's Pharmacy, 66 Elizabeth Street, Hobart Town. The jar itself is heavily discoloured throughout. There is a chip to the inner rim at the top. Flake chips to upper lid seat at the rear. Flake to front. Some dark scratches and dark wear through the glaze to the sharp edges around the upper and lower rim of the jar. Large chip to rear lower rim. Chip under front right base. Two other chips under the base. Crazing throughout. The painted label has scratches through it and is flaking in places. Lid has several chips, nothing huge by any means. It does have a crack across about two thirds of it. An interesting piece of pharmaceutical history. Grade: 5.7 Estimate: $$30.00 - $40.00
