A. Joske / Melb. No potters stamp. (Victoria) Demijohn Impressed Salt glaze. Impressed lip. 2 Gallon. 377 mm. 1880s
Excellent. A Joske and Co were at 16 Little Collins Street East, Melbourne. 15 x 8 mm shallow chip next to K on lip is mostly on the underside of the lip. A few relatively small chips under base edge, most of these are likely pottery pulls. Some making marks to be found. Some grime inside the lip impression which is deep and very clear. Possible very fine glaze hairline to shoulder. Smells a little like phenyle internally, so has likely been re-used as Joske was a spirit merchant. A rare demijohn. Grade: 8 Estimate: $$150.00 - $200.00
