Sold for A$740
J. O. Ladd / Adelaide. Dot to centre of base. (South Australia). Aerated Water. Lamont. Known as a Tapp's patent to South Australian collectors. Unusal short applied top with a ledge formed in the neck for the internal stopper to seal against. Aqua. 10 oz. 225 mm. 1870s-1880s
Good. (6.2). Stained throughout, this has an etched feel. 4 x 3 mm dark spot to upper rear looks like a small open bubble. Some little fisheyes and impact marks. Scuffs and scratches scattered around including some deeper examples. Is this a Tapp's Patent? Not entirely sure, some Lamont's do have double ended glass stoppers, and previous examples we have sold as Tapp's patents had rounder lips and no stopper, but exactly the same embossing. Either way, a rare bottle with the glass stopper, much rarer than the variety with Lamonts Patent details embossed. Estimate: $100-150
