Sir Wm Wynn / (Star) / Sandown Fort / I of Wight (On applied seal). Deep punt to base. (United Kingdom). Early Glass. Wine. Applied ring seal with applied seal. Pleasing lighter green colour. Pint. 266 mm. Early 19th century
Excellent. (8.5). Sir William Wynn was the governor of Sandown Fort on the Isle of Wight, he passed away around 1856, this bottle would predate that, possible by some decades although we are not sure of the exact age. A wonderful item it is in a pleasing light colour. There is a very fine 4 x 2 mm bruise to the rear lip edge which is very hard to see. The front right neck has a couple of shortish slightly pitted scratches. There is an inclusion to the inner rear neck with an associated small open bubble, but no damage. Small scuffed patch to upper right body, this isn't overly deep. Bubble to inner upper front is slightly burst. A few fine scuffs and scratches elsewhere. Lovely, whittled glass to the lower half of this bottle from making. A beautiful, early bottle, this is the first we have sold. Estimate: $500-750
