R. McKenzie. No potters stamp. (Campbell's Pottery, Launceston, Tasmania). Ginger Beer. Cork Stoppered. Dump shape. Impressed. Salt Glaze. 175 mm. 1880s.

Very Good. (7.5). This is a Launceston made ginger beer. Possibly John Campbell or the previous owner Cornwall. Made around the cross over period of owners. Tiny glaze flake to upper lip and another nick or two. There is a small and very shallow inner lip glaze flake, this is from an upper lip lump and likely a making mark. Couple of little nicks to lower lip. Little nick or two to shoulder. 8 x up to 2 mm think flake or deep scratch to fron left just below the shoulder, there is a very fine hairline through this over about 30-40 mm that is very hard to see. Short scratch below this as well. A bit lower down the body are three more similar marks next to each other, basically thin glaze flakes, the upper example is 8 x 2 mm, below this is a 4 x 1 mm example, then below this is a 7 x 3 mm example. Another scratch or two to be found and some surface wear scattered around in places as well. Some rust to be found. A bit of minor wear around the base edge. Couple of base edge nicks as well. Nice impressed, there is a very fine and minor glaze flake to the edge of the M. Overall, a nice example of a very hard to get bottle, this is the first we have sold. Estimate: $300-400
