Sold for A$840
G. H. Bennett / Richmond / (G.H.B. in a flag). (Victoria). Aerated Water. Torpedo. Applied blob top. Selenium Yellow/Amber. 10 oz. 242 mm. 1890s
Excellent. (8.2). Same bottle as sold in Auction 37, Lot 265. Some inner dirt that will wash out. Very few scuffs and scratches. Tiny nibbled marks to some of the embossing. 7 mm horizontal annealing fracture to inside on the side mid neck, this does not go all the way through. A superb bottle, selenium was used in the manufacture of this bottle giving it the wonderful colour. Much like amethyst bottles, ultraviolet radiation intensifies the effect of the selenium, turning it a darker colour. The one other example that we sold in auction 7 went darker when left on the roof! A wonderful, and rare bottle.. Estimate: $400-600
