4 impressed in top // (English Coat of Arms). No potters stamp. . Pottery. Barrel. Large Stoneware Barrel. Off white with tan bands. Applied decoration. 4 Gallon. 410 mm. Mid to late 1800s
Very Good. (7.5). But top part of the tap hole is broken off over about 40 mm. Three hairlines in the top, two in straight lines of about 60 and 80 mm and one in a long arc of over 150 mm. A few jagged kiln firing lines near the base, look like hairlines but you can see the glaze rolled into the edges of them. Back is dirty and worn. Detail to the applied decoration is really nice. Great looking piece.. Estimate: $200-300
