Evan Rowlands / Registered 6 January 1880 / (Farmer and Miner over coat of arms) / Ballaarat / Trade Mark // Rowlands / Late / Rowlands / & Lewis / Ballarat / & / Melbourne. Base Mark: Breffit's / Bottle / Makers / London. Aerated Water Codd Applied top, one way pour. Aqua. 13 oz. 234 mm. 1880s
Excellent. There are a series of stress annealing marks where the top was applied to the bottle during the manufacturing process. There is a very fine haze internally, with an oil odour. This bottle was manufactured with a misshapen base, causing it to wobble when standing on the table. There are a couple of scratches to the right lower top above the trade mark. One of the Ls to the rear embossing has a scuff mark over it. There are some light surface scuffs and scratches, but not many. The lettering is majorly sound with only the odd mark here and there. There is a small impact to the embossing on the trade mark. This is a great example of the Breffit made variety of the early Codd's Patent, this version is quite a bit rarer and has the one way pour teardrop on the opposite side of the bottle. Grade: 8.1 Estimate: $350 - 450
