Labelled cobalt poison with contents. Main Label: Burroughs / Wellcome & Co / Trade Mark ' Soloid' Brand / Corrosive / Sublimate / (Hydrarg. Perchlor.) / gr. 8.75 (0.567 gm.) / Direction. - One, dissolved in / a pint (20 oz.) of water, forms a / solution (illegible due to staining) / NOTE - This product contains a small / quantity of harmless colouring matter to / distinguish its solution from liquid pre- / parations for internal use. / POISON / London (Eng.), New York, / Montreal, Sydney, Cape Town. Smaller label: Poison / In case of poison- / ing by Corrosive / sublimate :- / Send for medical / man. / While waiting do not / give alcohol. / Give large quantities / of any of the following / (No 1. is best) : - / (1) White of raw egg / in milk or Water. / (2) Milk. Excellent. There is some grime on the upper sections. Labels have some stains and are a bit faded, some writing is illegible. There is a small tear to the left side of main label. Rear base has a long shallow sliver chip from the very edge, 25 mm x 3 mm, but shallow. This is smooth and actually was not picked up by us the first time around. Note that Corrosive sublimate (or Mercury Chloride) was most commonly used in the treatment of Syphilis. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $30 - 40
