Miller / Charles St / Launceston. No potters mark. Ginger Beer Impressed Dump shape, blob top, salt glaze, impressed. Light tan colour. 10 oz. 157 mm. 1850s
Good. There is a shallow flake under the front blob, 12 x 2 mm. Light wear around the shoulder, there is a shallow flake on the E of Miller, a 5 x 2 mm flake to rear shoulder but again very shallow and a shallow 3 x 2 mm flake to the left shoulder. At the front there is a 40 mm fine hairline running down to the base. To the right is a Y shaped hairline, the legged part is about 40 mm, the longer part is about 100 mm all up, from near the shoulder down to the base again. At the rear is a third hairline, this is curved covering about 75 mm to the base yet again. Where this one meets the base there is an under base flake 20 x 6 mm, and another beside this which is 17 x 12 mm. Both of these are relatively shallow. The three body hairlines which we said go all the way to the base actually continue under the base, with all three going across and meeting up in the middle of the base. All of these are quite tight, in reality this bottle does look great and is a great piece of early Tasmanian history. Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $350 - 400
