London. No potters mark. Household Blacking Jar Early stoneware shouldered blacking jar. Impressed. Salt glaze. 10 oz. 134 mm. 1850s
Very Good. This is a rare piece reputed to be from a Sydney firm - the London stores or something along those lines. Has a shallow chip to the upper lip, 14 x 5 mm at its widest parts. Stain to front above the impression, this looks like it will readily soak out. Some manufacturing marks spread around. Pink chalk has been applied to the impression to make the writing clear. An unusual piece, one which we have not seen before. Grade: 7.9 Estimate: $100 - 150
