Good. The frame is original, it has some chunks out of it and some splits here and there. Holes have been drilled in the frame for mounting purposes. The bottom part of the frame may have been replaced with a new piece of wood. The large sheet of glass is in great nick, there are no visible chips, cracks or scratches to this. The applied silver mirrored backing is pretty good, there is some scratching to this in the upper part allowing the light to shine through, and it has some staining mainly down the edges. The Tooth's lettering paintwork has flaked away, the external outline is pretty good, but the internal part which looks to have been blue is mostly now glass with no paint. The horse colouration has greatly deteriorated. The upper part of the horse is white with grey mane, the lower part of the horse is translucent where the paintwork has come off. Around the horse is see through glass, not sure if this was always totally see through or whether it had been painted, this section looks as if it were made this way, but there is some residue of paint around the XXX? The XXX itself is in great original condition. The gold leaf design around the rearing horse and down to the bottom is all great and original as well. The Ale & Stout wording at the bottom is pretty good, there is some flaking to the outer edges of the Ale & S letters, the rest of Stout also has some minor outer edge flaking, but is pretty good. The translucent glass around the horse and the Ale & Stout at the bottom is dirty and could do with a clean. This is a superb rarity pertaining to the great Tooth's Brewery, it does need a bit of work, but is a great original example, one which you will not likely see for sale again in the near future.
