Sold for A$600
Amber glass target ball. Attributed to Melbourne glass works. Miscellaneous Target Ball Two piece mould geocentric design with cross on each side in the middle. Amber. 65 mm diameter. 1890s
Excellent. Possibly should grade Near Mint, but has some internal surface dirt which has made us grade this slightly lower. One embossed part to the side has an extremely shallow 3 x 5 mm flake and tiny surface bruise next to it. There are a couple of very shallow surface bubbles. The sheer lip has some typical nibbles and small flakes around it, almost certainly from the manufacturing process. We sold a tip stained one of these in Auction 2, Lot 246, for $575, this one is markedly better in condition! A very rare Australian made target ball. Grade: 8.8 Estimate: $500 - 750
