A. Judes / West Rand Mineral Water Works / Trade (Crossed Axes) Mark / Registered / Krugersdorp // The Niagara Bottle / Barnett & Foster / Makers / London. N. A.J on base. Aerated Water Codd Niagara type (Double teardrop), skittle shaped bottle. Applied top. Aqua. 10 oz. 225 mm. 1880s-1890s
Excellent. The lip of this bottle may have just had a tiny spot ground out and polished although equally it could just be rough manufacture. Rest of the bottle is in lovely original condition. There are a few spots of rust that a good soak should remove, one spot on left shoulder area has a small crescent surface fracture, this is very small. Some minor haze in spots both inside and out. Some light scattered scuffs and scratches. Back embossing is a bit weak. A couple of very fine annealing stress marks in inner back lip from when the top was applied to the bottle originally. Great looking and unusual marble bottle. Grade: 8.25 Estimate: $150 - 200
