On applied shoulder seal: Berkoetoet / (Pigeon) / Schiedam. No base mark. Spirits Gin Applied pig snout type lip. Dark Olive Green. 30 oz. 279 mm. 1870s
Excellent. 2 x 3 mm chip to inner lip. Some fine inner dirt. Pretty much spotless, there are some fine surface bubbles. Close inspection reveals some very hard to see rounded scratches, which indicates that this may have been polished! A superb job if it has been. Rare gin bottle, a great addition to any gin collection. Berkoetoet is Indonesian for pigeon and apparently this trade mark is one of Herman Janssen's brands, this particular one was imported into Indonesia by the S.B Meseritz and Co Trading Company.
