Excellent. This bottle is from 1837 and was made by the Alloa Glass Works of Glasgow, Scotland. This is what they call a stippled bottle, the process used a hammer and awl to tap a picture and/or writing onto the surface of a glass bottle. The bottles were usually made in honor of an important event such as a wedding, anniversary, christening, etc. This one is quite interesting in that it is quite early for one of these - 1837. The term Dinna Forget is a play on words meaning Do Not Forget. For Auld Lang Syne is often sung at funerals, so one can surmise that this piece was made to commemorate the funeral of J G M Veitch of London in 1837. Condition wise, Couple of sharp nibbled flakes to upper and inner lip, these are not large and seem to come from making splits. Natural making dip to lip. Stain inside may be contents residue staining. Quite a bit of usage wear under the base. Scratches to the bulbous part of the bottle. A great piece of early history. Grade: 8 Estimate: $250 - 300
