Very Good. 10 x 5 mm shallow flake to upper handle. A few little glaze flakes around the shoulder and some scratches. Little flake to underside of spigot may be a small pottery blowout. Around the lower 10 cm or so are a series of spider leg hairlines, these are very fine like crazing, and are likely from making. One goes right up the rear, running along a crude glaze miss next to the handle. This can be felt with the fingernail in this section. Just above the stamp a hairline comes from this going across about 100 mm, this cannot be felt either. An 80 mm diagonal hairline comes from it towards the shoulder, just going into the brown part. Some neck crazing, one line is a bit darker, this is pretty much just glaze crazing though. This massive item is nearly 300 mm across. This is one OUTSTANDING item. Never before seen or even contemplated by collectors, this is the very first time that this has been seen in the collecting community. A truly unique item, this is by far the biggest printed Bendigo Pottery demijohn that we have seen, it is the only five gallon internal thread handled demijohn and to top it all off, advertising Rogers Bros, whose two other known 1 gallon demijohns are also extremely rare. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $4000 - 5000
