Charles W. Burcher / Charleville. Around base heel: Kilner Brothers // Makers Dewsbury. Base Mark: 3608. (Queensland) Aerated Water Lamont Applied top. Cobalt. 13 oz. 232 mm. 1880s
Very Good. Oiled internally. Dull due to surface staining throughout. There does not appear to be any deep marks, simply light scuffs and scratches throughout. High point wear to the embossing, this is much the same as the surface scuffs on the remainder of the bottle, nothing deep at all. A very dark blue, this is one amazing bottle. Extremely rare, there are only a few known in collections, this is the first to come up for public sale and likely will be the last as the Charleville tip has been dug out, this is one of the few known to have been found there many years ago. Australia's only cobalt blue lamont, on a worldwide scale there are relatively few blue lamonts known, but in this dark cobalt colour they are a wordlwide rarity. Not just one of the top bottles in Australia, this is of Worldwide interest! Probably worth noting that of the others that we know about, this is quite possibly the best as it is in original condition, a couple of the others are polished. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $10000 - 12500
