Pair of Flint glass decanters. Both pontilled with ground inner neck and stoppers. One has original labels: Medals, The United Vineyard Proprietors Old Brandy Cognac. Louis Salignac, Manager // Finest Quality, French Cognac, Warranted very old and pure imported spirits. Bottled in South Australia by The Import Company of Australasia, 131, Grenfell Street, Adelaide. Spirits Cognac Rectangular section. Tool finished top. Clear - flint glass. Pontilled. Both about one quart. Both about 272 mm without the stoppers. 1870s
Excellent. The labelled one has a shallow 15 x 8 mm chip near the base edge on the back label side. Some contents residue inside. Stoppers appear to be original, one sits down too far in the bottle but the wear inside the neck seems to match this. Beautiful whittled glass. The bottles here could well be earlier than stated but the date tends to fit in with the labels. Great pair of bottles. Grade: N/A Estimate: $100 - 150
