Very Good. Very interesting example of the reuse of a bottle for a different purpose. This was common practice in those days! Interestingly, there is evidence that Herbert P. Burrows was not impressed with having to include details about The Food and Drugs' Act on his labels - as per The Mercury, Friday 10 May 1912: Sauces and Pickles, Herbert P. Burrows, a sauce and pickle manufacturer, of Hobart, also gave evidence. He protested very strongly against the proposal to amend the printing on the labels. The regulations governing the manufacture of tomato sauce and pickles were also taken objection to by Mr. Burrows. He considered the local traders were under a disadvantage in having to put up with competition from people on the mainland, who were sending to Tasmanian imitation vinegar. Back to this bottle, the bottle has some grime and stain scattered around, likely from being under a house or the likes from many years, also has some contents residue. One or two little impact marks. Label is not one we have seen, in fact we have not heard of the company before. Label is stained, has a grey lead mark on it and one or two little tears, but is quite good for a label that is 100 years old. Grade: 7.8 Estimate: $20 - 30
