Very Good. In the roaring goldrush days of 1854, James Long, one of the early settlers of Ballarat, founded this small biscuit and confectionery business at the corner of Victoria and East Streets. In 1918 Mr. T. P. Long, a son of James Long, sold the business to the Sunshine Biscuit Company. Fire in 1923 destroyed the historic building, and in its place rose a fine, modern factory, with the most up to-date equipment. The company merged with George Farmer Ltd., the well-known bacon and ham curers, in 1947, and the business became known as Ballarat Products Co. Tin is in good shape with good colours. Some wear in places through the paint, some surface corrosion and some scratches. A solid and interesting tin. Grade: N/A Estimate: $40 - 50
