James Atkinson's Bears Grease / (Bear) / 24 Old Bond Street / London / Price 2/6. Pot Lid Bears Grease All white with black print. Small. 63 mm diameter. 1860s
Very Good. Line across bear can be either a fine hairline, scratch or even a streak of print? Some tiny glaze nicks to face edge. Couple of fine glaze scratches to face. 13 x 5 mm chip to inner flange. Little impact flake to bottom of flange has a short horseshoe hairline from it. A few scratches to bottom of flange. Some discolouration on the underside of the lid. Crazing, more evident underneath. Comes with a base that is heavily rust stained with a chip under base and some small flakes. Not a bad example of this early bears grease lid. Grade: 7.4 Estimate: $$100.00 - $150.00
