Very Good. Such was the success of mouth organs that in 1902 Australia’s largest music house, Allan and Co. of Melbourne, brought out their own Crackajack series, based on German imports but re-badged to appeal to Australian tastes. Allan & Co were in Collins Street, Melbourne, they were also at 51 Rundle Street, Adelaide as well as Sydney and Bendigo. This sign was found in Quorn in the 1970s. Square corners at the bottom, round at the top as made. The mid top edge has rusted through. K of Crackajack has some damage to it, looks like a couple of original pieces have been glued in place, there is a part of this letter still missing. Some flakes and small pieces missing down the sides. Left side has a small crazed section. Small rusty flake next to Y of harmony near base. A few more little flakes and rusty marks along the bottom edge. The major part of the face is really quite good. To the rear there is a fair bit of rust to be found. Approximately 1/4 to 1/3 would be covered in rust. A superb sign, in this tiny size, an Australian one to boot, this has everything going for it! Grade: N/A Estimate: $$750.00 - $1,000.00
