Pair of Dr Townsend's variations both embossed: Dr Townsend's // Sarsaparilla // Albany / N. Y. Base on the shiny one has large M with four dots around it. Dull one has a smooth base. Spirits Sarsaparilla Square. Blobby applied top and smoother tool finished top. Teal. 26 oz. 238 & 242 mm. 1870s-1880s
Shiny one is Very Good. It has the large base mark and quite drippy applied top. Surfaces are pretty smooth although there is still some good detail. Embossing a little rounded through the middle although it looks like that is largely how it came out of the mould. Some scratches and little marks remain. A couple of inclusions near the shoulder but no faults around them. The dull one is Very Good. It has generally light swirly stain all around. Some general scratches and scuffs. Has some baby oil inside. Lovely pair of bottles in this great colour. Grade: N/A Estimate: $60 - 80
