Pair of Soda Syphons: 1. W. Appelt / Nuriootpa / British Syphon Co London. Partial original label to back. Original top impressed: W. Appelt / Nuriootpa. 2. Victor Harbour Mineral Waters & Cordial Factory / (WA Monogram). Top stamped W. Appelt / Nuriootpa. (South Australia) Aerated Water Soda Syphon Round type. Clear. 30 oz. 300 mm with tops. 1910s-1920s
Of course both of these are from W. Appelt, hence the WA Monogram on the Victor Harbour syphon. Nuriootpa is Good. Top is tightly in place, we have not removed it but no sign of fractures underneath. Large 30 x 14 mm chip to the pedestal base. General usage wear, soda stain, etc otherwise. The Victor Harbour is Poor. It has a massive 60 x 35 mm fractured oval at the back that feels like it could pop out! From the edge of this is a 95 mm crack towards the print. The top comes off easily but reveals more of a fracture that runs 45 mm down the front and 55 mm down the back and joins across the base of the neck. Both these syphons seem to be hard to get and still display OK. Grade: N/A Estimate: $40 - 60
