P. G. Dixon & Co. / Stone / (Rearing Demilion) / Ginger Beer / 101-131 Rosslyn St. / Melbourne. Potters Stamp: The Bendigo Pottery / Epsom / Bendigo / Coy Ltd. (Victoria) Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Two tone, tan top, off white body. Black print. 13 oz. 216 mm. 1910s
Excellent. Difficult to grade as this has never been used. This was found by Dennis O'Hoy at the Bendigo Pottery waste dump in 1967 - yes 50 years ago! Some grime around the lip. The front lip has a glaze miss. Crazing to neck. Rear near shoulder has a chip like mark which is a kiln kiss, this is 20 x 16 mm. The right body has a long kiln kiss over 76 by up to 10 mm. One or two other little glaze pops and glaze misses. Little chip to front base heel is also from making. The stamp is smudged and looks to be on top of the glaze, this would be an effect from not being finished off properly at the pottery, likely due to the large kiln marks. A truly unique piece, with superb provenance! Grade: 8 Estimate: $100 - 150
