Cobalt Blue Teakettle ink. 8 sides with bevelled base. Dot to centre of the top. Shear or Burst lip. Ink Teakettle Cobalt Blue. Eight sided. Shear or Burst lip. About 2 oz. 55 mm. 1890s
Good. On the top to one side is an impact mark with a slice type chip coming off it - total area 11 x 5 mm. A few deep scratches around. Dull and general other marks. Lip is very crude and goes quickly to a very thick neck. Dirty inside. Found in Melbourne over 40 years ago, we are aware of two having been found in the same tip. Not listed in the "Teakettle Ink Price and Reference Guide", Mathews, this is likely one of the few UK made examples, most having been French made. Grade: 6.7 Estimate: $150 - 200
