Sold for A$20

Pair of Melbourne Chemist items in original packages: 1. Martin & Pleasance's Electric Headache Powder. 2. Longmores' Purgative Blood & Liver Pills. (Victoria) Medicine Chemist 1. Box containing a full labelled vial, a wooden measuring device and a pamphlet. 2. Early screw top jar with cap and original contents. Labelled. Pamphlet and original packaging as well. 1. Vial is 66 mm. 2.Jar is 57 mm.. 1910s-1940s

1. Glass vial is Mint! Still has contents, the label has a stain or two. The wooden measuring cup which is tiny has a chipped pedestal base. The pamphlet is discoloured with an obvious fold down the middle. The box is very much the worse for wear. The label is readable, but has tears. Box is soft, bent, stained and pretty much every other word to describe bad condition. Overall though, this is a great piece of chemist history. 2. Jar is Mint. Has some grime. The lid has corrosion, but comes off to reveal the original padded cotton wool covering the original pills! The ground lip and base finish of the jar date it to the earlier part of the 1900s. The label on the jar is discoloured and has a bit of extra paper stuck to the lower part. The associated pamphlet pretty much is a list of Longmore's products and what they were good for. This has folds and is discoloured. The packaging around the outside is in poorer condition. The top is torn out, there is a tear to the bottom and a tear right down the side. Quite discoloured with some stains as well. Another great piece of Melbourne chemist history, this makes for a superb pair. Grade: N/A Estimate: $40 - 60
