5 x Thai Jarlets, about 800 years old. (James A. Lerk Collection) Pottery Ancient 5 x Thai Jarlets. Various. 1200s
The smallest is a grey colour, this is about 37 mm high. The unglazed parts are black, possibly smoke stain. About half the lip is missing. Some dark crazing. Curved glaze hairline as well. The next shortest is 52 mm, this has a wide mouth and two loop handles, although one is broken off. A black colour, I am not sure it is meant to be, this could be fire damage. The next one is 61 mm high, this has a narrow opening and two loop handles. A dark drippy glaze, possibly has some smoke stain? Not much else to report, this is in good solid condition. The next one is 64 mm high, this is quite a wide one so probably the largest item. It is a light green/grey colour. It has two large lumps of pottery stuck to the side which we feel is a pair of the largest kiln kisses we have ever seen! Flake to base edge. Some stain and crazing. The last one is 65 mm high, this has a wide mouth and two loop handles. A large chip and hole to one side. A few chips to base edge. A dark colour, looks to have a fair bit of smoke stain or fire damage. Crazed throughout. Interesting selection of ancient pottery from the James A. Lerk collection. Grade: N/A Estimate: $75 - 100
