Pair of Bricks: 1. J. Pont Brick. (East Maitland) 2. Adamstown Brick. (Newcastle) Pottery Brick Brick 234 & 230 mm long. 1890s
1. John Pont's Brickyard was in East Maitland in the 1890s. Typical little blowouts from making and some making splits. Deep impressed letters have slightly poorly defined edges. Some flakes to the edges and chips. 2. A paving brick we were told by the vendor, it has a pattern underneath. I have seen reference to the Adamstown Brickyard in Newcaslte in the 1890s, so have dated this to then. Some blowout from impurities. A few chips and flakes to the edges. Interesting brick.
