"Allendale" / Old / Scotch / Whisky. Base mark: 6. inside a polished pontil. (James A. Lerk Collection) Spirits Whisky/Whiskey Clear square decanter with white enamelled writing. 208 mm without stopper. 1910s
Very Good. The only advertising I can find for these is from John E. Hunter (successor to Stewards & Hunters) of McCrae Street Bendigo who were "agents" of this product in 1917. I cannot find any other reference. The fact this was part of the James A. Lerk collection would indicate it was sourced in Bendigo as well, so maybe they were more than agents? There is a chip to the left lip. Inner haze throughout. Grime throughout. Usage wear under base. Nick or two to edges. Some scratches. A very interesting item. Grade: 7.1 Estimate: $75 - 100
