Registered / Trade Mark / (Crown) / Bilz / Gesetzl (Monogram) gesch / Bilz Depot // Bottle not complete / without stopper. Base Mark: M. Stopper: Bilz Depot. (Victoria) Aerated Water Lightning Stopper Applied top, tooled finish. Amber. 13 oz. 253 mm without stopper. 1900s
Good. The wire is non existent, so stopper is just sitting in place. Stopper is badly chipped where the wire has gone through it and expanded upon corroding causing the stopper to pop. Print is faded. The bottle itself has a couple of small upper lip flakes and a small flake to outer lip. It is stained throughout, this is opalescent in places and a tad etched as well. Some scratches and small spots of wear. On August 16, 1905, Martina Schreiber of Kew in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, was successful in registering a trademarked device of a cross for the nonalcoholic beverage Bilz. It was registered as No.9254 on behalf of Schreiber and Co., the proprietors of which were Martina Schreiber and George Schreiber who was presumably her husband. Grade: 6.2 Estimate: $30 - 50
