2 / Imperial / (Coat of Arms) / Filter. Pottery Water Filter All white. Aplied slab seals. 2 Gallon. 340 mm without lid. 1900s
Excellent. Shallow flake under right base, possibly from making. Very crudely made, there are a few making splits. The glaze has missed crudely in several sections, including over some large areas. Lid fits perfectly and is likely the original lid, it has a small pottery blow out. A superb water filter, due to the crudity of this piece, we feel that it is an Australian made piece. We have seen one made undoubtedly by the same pottery with the same unusual knob on the end of the tap hole and the same English coat of arms, but it had Foy & Gibson on, a Melbourne company. Possibly from one of the Victorian potteries? (This filter originally appeared in Auction 18 with $100 start. Now offered without reserve). Grade: 8.8 Estimate: $150 - 200
