Evan Rowlands / Registered 6 Jan 1880 / (Farmer and Miner) / (Coat of Arms) / Trade Mark // Rowlands / late / Rowlands & Lewis / Ballarat / & / Melbourne. No base mark. (Victoria) Aerated Water Cork Stoppered Applied top. Dump shape. Olive/amber. 13 oz. 163 mm. 1880s
Very Good. 3 x 2 mm nibbled mark to lip edge on writing only side. Tiny surface impact above W of Rowlands on writing side. DE of trade near base on trade mark side has a few impacts which are a tad nibbled. Little impact to leg of the miner. Dull patches predominate, but there are some shiny patches as well. Some scuffs and scratches scattered around, nothing deep at all, and even the dull patches are pretty much surface haze. Some tiny impacts and minor wear to some of the letters, again, this is mostly really good too. A wonderful example, but what is really wonderful is the colour! This is the only one I have ever seen in this olive colour. By no means green, it is also by no means amber like the usual ones which are a deep red amber. The people I have shown have used two different words so far to describe the colour, mostly they have said olive, but one has said khaki! Whatever the case, this is the only one I have seen and in this great dug condition, this is a must have for any keen collector. Grade: 7.7 Estimate: $5000 - 7500
