(Two full thistles and one half thistle around the shoulder). Base: British Registration Diamond dated 1st January 1859 to Tower & Arrol. Goldfields Whisky/Whiskey Fancy shape with large embossed thistles. Ring around neck. Applied top. Aqua. 26 oz. 317 mm. 1860s
Near Mint. Interestingly, looking up the registration details it says that this glass design (Parcel No.2) was registered on the 1st of January 1859 by: Bower & Arrol, Glasgow. Is the Bower a typo, or have we been incorrectly calling this a Tower & Arrol for years? One small patch of light haze near inner rear base. Tiny nick to base edge. Some usage wear under base. Some minor spots of grime and dirt that will soak out. A few fine scratches and minor marks. A stunning example, you will not get any better than this beauty! Grade: 9.2 Estimate: $2000 - 2500
