French Calvados (Apple Brandy). Wide body with long neck. Jagged pontil to punt in base. Black Glass Brandy Wide body. Long neck. Sheared, jagged top. Applied ring. Green. About 26 oz. 296 mm. 1730s-1750s
Very Good. Hard to judge early glass like this. The lip has chips of 12 x 6 and 12 x 4 mm and other small marks but the lip is also crudely sheared and left with a sharp finish from manufacture. On one side near the shoulder is a small impact mark with a star fracture which in total covers about 20 x 10 mm. Scratches, scuffs and wear around the surface. Loads of inclusions and swirls through the bottle. A wonderful piece of early glass. Grade: 7.5 Estimate: $200 - 250
