Sold for A$70

Garry Thomas Bookmakers bag. (Victoria) Sporting Leather bookmakers bag, cream and black with balck and silver print. Roughly 500 mm wide. Unknown

Good. Looks reasonably early, I would have guessed mid 1900s? However, Googling Garry Thomas bookmaker comes up with a life member of the Healesville Racing Club, with the first Healesville Cup being ran in only 1990? Maybe a different Garry Thomas had this bag, but it must be said, in 2010 a picture of the Healesville Garry Thomas shows a similar bag in the background, except it is all white with black print. Anyway, there is a piece of leather missing along the rim, the print has cracked and faded. Some stains and grime. A bit of rust to the exposed metal parts. Has Cheney England on the latches, who were suitcase makers from around the 1930s. A fascinating and unique piece of horse racing memorabilia. Grade: N/A Estimate: $100 - 150
