R. Stitt / Stitt's / Brewed / Ginger / Beer / Gympie // This bottle always remains / the property of / R. Stitt. Potters stamp: C / Govancroft / 3 / Glasgow. (Queensland) Ginger Beer Crown Seal Champagne shape. Green/blue top. Green/blue print. Off white body. 10 oz. 205 mm. 1930s
Excellent. Tiny discoloured scratch to upper front neck. Some glaze crazing to the base edge, only comes up 20 mm or so at the worst, and is very fine. This crazing is also under the base. Two small under base flakes which may well be potters pulls from making. Small patch of glaze wear to right upper body that is near impossible to even see. A few minor scratches and little scuff marks. A unique coloured top, this turquoise looking glaze is unique in Australia, Stitt was the only company to use this colour. It must have been hard to produce, as the colour is variably with lighter patches and lines from making. The print is the same colour, this is Australia's only green top, green print ginger beer. The unique attributes coupled with the rarity of this item make this one of the most sought after bottles for ginger beer collectors. Grade: 8.2 Estimate: $4000 - 5000
