J. Osborne / Dubbo. Potters stamp: Mauri Bros & Thomson / Pinnacle. (New South Wales) Ginger Beer Cork Stoppered Dump. Blue Lip. Black Print. 10 oz. 171 mm. 1910s
Very Good. Remains of a lacquer or similar around the upper outer and inner lip. There are NO repairs though! I have a feeling the upper lip wear which is through the glaze may have been touched up many years ago by colouring and then coating with lacquer, over the years this has deteriorated and worn off, leaving a flaky looking appearance, this will soak off in the right solvent. A bit of slightly discoloured wear to shoulder. Hairline to the rear from the shoulder edge to the base edge, there is one small spot in the middle of this where there is a thin flake. 13 x 7 mm flake to base edge over potters stamp. Some yellowed remains of lacquer or similar to base edge as well, heaviest around the flake just mentioned, maybe this had been repaired at some stage as well? A few spots of grime. Some little spots of wear to the body. Some scratches. A hard bottle to get in the all white version, this blue lip one is very rare, the first we have ever offered for sale. Grade: 7 Estimate: $500 - 750
