This bottle is the property of / Doneley & Butler / Ginger / Beer / Warwick. Potters Stamp: Mauri Bros & Thomson / Sydney. (Queensland) Ginger Beer Crown Seal Green Lip. Black Print. 13 oz. 211 mm. 1920s
Good. The crown has been repaired. It is hard to tell, but a very minor line can be seen to the front right, and another on the inner lip to the front left, so looks like there has been a chip around the front lip that has been filled. There may have been another chip or two filled around the lip. The entire crown has been painted, but the rest of the green lip is original. The lacquer applied to cover the repair has been applied to the bottom of the green lip, even though it is only the crown that has had the repair. Discoloured throughout, including some tight discoloured crazing. 30 x 13 mm patch to front left shoulder where the glaze has missed in making. Deep 15-20 mm scratch to right lower body. 35 mm glaze hairline to front towards right side of the printed stamp. A few tiny nicks to the heel. One of Australia's best crown seal ginger beers, this is the only green lip crown seal in Australia. With a relatively minor lip repair and such a great job, this is a show worthy example, in fact, has been shown at many shows across Australia over the years! Grade: 6.6 Estimate: $6000 - 8000
