Brass WW1 compass and carry case. Barker & Son Lensatic Compass manufactured by Negretti & Zambra, London. (United Kingdom). Miscellaneous. Compass. Brass WW1 compass and carry case. Case is about 85 mm long. 1920s

Excellent. (N/A). Barkers patents 1818/15, 103019/16 11002/16, are impressed on the base of the compass. The original leather pouch with strap closure is included. There is a name written in ink on the underside of the strap which is A. BOYLES. Barker developed and patented the principle of the lensatic compass in 1916 (Pat No. 103,019). Some wear to the carry case. Some wear to the compass as well and fine scratches. This is filled with liquid, presumably as designed, there is air amongst the liquid, and it is a bit discoloured. Not sure how accurate this is either, just tried it and I think north may have moved? Interesting item.. Estimate: $40-60
