Hoadley's Dutch Cocoa Doll. (Melbourne, Victoria). Miscellaneous. Doll. Multcoloured doll shaped like a Dutch woman. 100 mm. 1920s
Very Good. (7). Firstly, why have I called this a Hoadley's Dutch Cocoa Doll? A few of these larger dolls were found in a massive hoard of tiny pudding dolls years ago which was a throw out from the Hoadley's factory in Melbourne, including labels from Hoadley and some other odds and ends. With Hoadley's heavily advertising their Old Dutch Cocoa around the same time, including with a Dutch woman holding a cup of cocoa, there can be little doubt about this being a Hoadley's item. It has some chunky rust and in places this has come off taking the colour with it. The colour has faded at the front, non existent at the back. Discoloured hairlines around the rear. Some crazing. Looks like a little chip to one of the feet, but this is glazed over, so is from making. Solid example of a most interesting item with definitive links to the early Melbourne confectionery company..
