Port / Mineral Waters / Limited. Base Mark: A. (Port Adelaide, South Australia). Aerated Water. Codd. Applied top, spun finish. Four way pour Dobson style patent with four dimples. Clear. 6 oz. 212 mm. 1928
Very Good. (7.5). Fine surface wear to upper lip. Some stain around the inner base region looks like it will soak out. Tiny nick to front heel. 45 x 1 mm scuffed scratch to front right, this ends next to the T of Port. Some other lesser scuffs and scratches to left of this at the upper front and a horizontal line of surface wear as well. Another line of surface wear to the lower right and rear. 3 x 2 mm nibbled impact to right mid rear. One or two fine fisheyes. Some scuffs and scratches to be found. A few nibbled marks and spots of wear to the fine embossing. Very interesting bottle which I have not seen before. Turns out Port Mineral Waters Limited was incorporated on August 17th, 1928 in order to acquire the business at Glanville run by the Central Co-Operative Cordials and Mineral Water Company, Limited which was about to go into liquidation. With no other reference to this company in advertising or newspaper articles, and the fact the bottles are so rare, I am guessing this venture was short lived, therefore this codd would date to around the 1928 period! Estimate: $300-400
